    • Details
This proof set contains the half dollar, dollar and five dollar Gold coin.

    Set Highlights:
    • Comes complete with an original box and a certificate of authenticity.
    • The $5.00 coin contains .2419 oz of Gold.
    • The dollar contains .7734 oz of Silver.
    • The half dollar contains Copper/Nickel bonded to an inner core of pure Copper.
    • Half Dollar:
Obverse: Features the original North Wing (burned by the British in 1814) superimposed on an outline of the present building.
Reverse: An arrangement of inscriptions and a ring of 16 stars, representing the 16 states in 1800, when the Capitol first held a United States Congress session.
    • Silver Dollar:
Obverse: Features the original Capitol with the date 1800, and a much smaller current Capitol with the date 2001. This design is a variation on the same theme as used on the half dollar.
Reverse: Presents a heraldic eagle reminiscent of the same artist's reverse design for the 1986 Silver Eagle bullion coin. In the present incarnation, the national bird wears a ribbon lettered U.S. Capital Visitor Center.
    • Gold $5.00:
Obverse: Features the top of a Corinthian column. Inscriptions read "liberty", "1800", "First Convening of Congress in Washington", "In God We Trust" and the date.
Reverse: Shows the Capitol building as it appeared in 1800.
